April 7th 2022: Zoom Guest Evening – PENELOPE SHUTTLE

Penelope Shuttle lives in Cornwall. Her thirteenth collection, Lyonesse, appeared from Bloodaxe Books in June 2021, and was Observer Poetry Book of the Month for July. Covid/Corvid, a pamphlet written in collaboration with Alyson Hallett, was published by Broken Sleep Books, September 2021. Father Lear, a pamphlet, was published by Poetry Salzburg, June 2020. Retrieved Data, a micro- pamphlet, appeared from Broken Sleep Books in May 2021. 

She has received a Gregory Award and a Cholmondeley Award.  Redgrove’s Wife ,(Bloodaxe Books, 2007), was shortlisted for the T S Eliot Award, and for The Forward Prize.

Penelope is President of the Falmouth Poetry Group, founded in 1972 by her late husband, poet Peter Redgrove.  She is widely published, and has often broadcast her work. Her radio poem, Conversations on a Bench, set in Falmouth, was heard on BBC Radio 4 in March 2020, and she is a contributor to The Verb on Radio 3.   Currently she is working on a new collection, History of the Child.
