Graeme Ryan
Graham was born in St Anne’s on Sea in Lancashire. He was an English and Drama teacher for many years, author and director of numerous full-length plays for young people including Heartland, Hope Street and The Name of the Beast. Returned to writing poetry and joined Fire River Poets, Taunton, in 2016. He was a prize winner in the Teignmouth poetry competition 2018 and Torbay 2017 and has received several Commendeds in national competitions. Coverstory published his first collection, Valley of the Kings, in 2022 and his illustrated Nature Notes with Becky Gryspeerdt came out in 2020.
He now lives in West Somerset between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor, is involved in local conservation and writes a monthly nature column for Somerset Life magazine.
His other interests include walking, cycling, jazz and rock drumming; two current big inspirations are the songs of Kurt Elling and the writings of Iain McGilchrist.
